What does the SundaHus assessment involve?

The SundaHus assessment system helps developers, architects and contractors select materials in line with the principles of sustainable construction, a healthy indoor environment and responsible design. The assessment is based on a detailed analysis of building materials in terms of:

• the product’s chemical composition
• emissions of volatile organic compounds (VOCs)
• effects on the health of building occupants
• environmental impact
• safety in use throughout the product’s life cycle

Materials are classified according to their level of risk and impact, from those with the highest environmental quality to products with a greater environmental impact.
