Drainage and separation mat for façades
MATT
Eurovent® MATT is a drainage and separation mat for metal façade cladding, including standing-seam panels. Its single-layer, three-dimensional polypropylene mesh, approximately 8 mm thick, creates a spacing layer between the metal and the substrate.
The open mesh helps drain condensation from beneath the cladding and allows air to circulate within the mat. It is suitable, among other applications, for façades of timber-frame buildings. MATT is not a housewrap membrane; the required protection against wind penetration and water must be provided by a separate, suitable layer.

Application and Technical Data
Eurovent® MATT serves as a drainage and separation layer beneath metal façade cladding, especially standing-seam panels. In ventilated façades with closed joints, it works with the other wall layers to help drain water and moisture from beneath the cladding.
The layer arrangement, fixings and condensation drainage route must follow the façade design and the mat and cladding manufacturers’ instructions. The mat does not replace the required housewrap membrane or the designed ventilation cavity. Use behind open-joint cladding requires separate confirmation that the entire assembly is suitable, including the UV resistance of its layers.

In a metal façade, Eurovent® MATT provides the drainage and separation layer. Select the other products to suit the wall construction:
- Eurovent® housewrap membranes — a separate protective layer on the outer side of the thermal insulation, as specified in the façade design.
- Eurovent® sealing and adhesive tapes — for sealing membrane overlaps, junctions and service penetrations, according to each tape’s intended use.
- Standing-seam clips — secure the metal cladding in accordance with its manufacturer’s requirements.
- Eurovent® vapour control membranes — on the inside of the wall where required by the design.
Mat drainage, wind-layer airtightness and façade ventilation are separate functions of the cooperating layers.

Is Eurovent® MATT a wind barrier membrane?
No. MATT is a three-dimensional polypropylene separation and drainage mat.
What is the purpose of its 8 mm structure?
It creates space for airflow and drainage of moisture or condensate beneath metal cladding.
Can MATT replace a façade membrane?
No. Where a wind barrier or water-resisting membrane is required, it must be specified separately.
Where else can MATT be used?
On metal roofs, particularly beneath standing-seam coverings, as a separation and drainage layer.
How does MATT differ from METALLIC?
MATT is the mesh layer only; METALLIC combines a membrane and separation mesh.
