BG R sealing classification

klasyfikacja-szczelnosci-bg1-bgr-eurovent

– a class of pre-compressed tapes for sealing joints on the interior side.

In modern energy-efficient construction, airtight window installation and properly sealed connections reduce uncontrolled airflow. Class BG R (BGR) according to DIN 18542 applies to tapes intended for use on the interior side of a building and specifies requirements for airtightness and resistance to condensation.

What is class BG R?

BG R refers to raumseitige Anwendung, meaning interior-side application. A correctly selected and installed tape of this class helps ensure joint airtightness, for example at the connection between a window and a wall, supporting the durability and energy efficiency of the building envelope.

What does the combination of BG1 and BG R mean?

BG1 and BG R describe different sealing functions. BG1 applies to tapes for external joints exposed to weather, including resistance to driving rain at a pressure of at least 600 Pa. BG R relates to sealing on the interior side. A tape with both classifications can meet the requirements for both functions in accordance with the product documentation and installation instructions. The 600 Pa value must not be attributed to class BG R alone.
