Airtightness in accordance with DIN 4108-11
– a key airtightness standard in modern construction.
What is DIN 4108-11?
DIN 4108-11 is a German technical standard that precisely defines airtightness requirements for building materials and components used in the building envelope, including roofs, walls and floors. Under its provisions, a material or structural component should have limited air permeability – ideally, it should be completely airtight.
This standard is relevant to low-energy and passive house construction because it minimises uncontrolled heat loss and draughts, and improves the building’s energy efficiency.
